TRICK OR TREAT?.........JAWS HOUMOUS


Couldn't let Halloween pass without taking the opportunity to get spooky in the kitchen!
first on the chopping block is Jaws hummus. SUPER easy, but really effective! You don't have to make your own houmuss for this one - just buy a tub of ready made houmuss, add blue food colouring, some blue corn chips for the sharks & you're good to go.


400g tin of chickpeas (drained)
3 tablespoons light tahini
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons light olive oil
1 cloves of garlic
3 tablespoons water
salt to taste
pinch of paprika (optional)

Ok, I have to be totally honest here - I have tried quite a few houmuss (how do you even spell that word??) recipes & really haven't found one I love as much as shop bought houmuss (my fave brand is San Amvrosia organic houmous).
This recipe has been leant to me by my friend Shara as she makes it all the time (without the blue!) & everyone loves it, so I hope you do too.

drain the can of chickpeas & give them a rinse.
Simply put all the above ingredients into your blender & blitz until you get a Smooth creamy, hummus. You may need to add a little more water if you want a super smooth consistency.
natural blue food colouring
blue corn chips
beetroot juice or red food colouring

Then just add your food colouring until you get the right shade of blue.
stick in some blue corn ships to look like sharks circling around.
Then pour on a little red food colouring or beetroot juice (which is what I used here) to make it look like feeding time in the shark pool.
